Printed on recto: Mission San Carlos Borromeo. Founded June 3, 1770 by Father Junipero Serra. This was the second mission in the California chain. The mission was named for Saint Charles Borromeo, a cardinal of the 16th century. Also called San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo and San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo. This image has a yellow border and is mounted on a gray card.
