Written on recto: "Break ground for the observatory to be built by the the Knights of Columbus for Father Richard + University of Santa Clara May 1925." Erin Louthen, University Archivist for Santa Clara University notes that the observatory was not built for "Father Richard," which is a spelling mistake, the correct spelling is "Father Ricard."
