Patricia Carpio (Whiting), 1940-2010, was the first Filipino woman elected to the Oregon State Legislature, serving three terms from 1972-1978. Patricia Whiting died at age 69 on July 1, 2010 of cancer. She is survived by her husband Vincent Whiting.
October 26th Midnight 1971 The shadow of hand between page & ceiling light: June ’70 we wrapped up Eco-Alliance activity – left it all to those remaining – [O.S.U?]. Moved to Tigard, south of Portland. Vince has been with [Meyer?] labs for 1 ½ years. I am deeply involved with lecturing and lobbying in Ptld & Salem; for 2 P.M., O.E.C Sierra Club & AIAS. I’ve just completed serving as O.D.F. Wash Co Coordinator for the [Dems?] Fund. Into the political realm I now venture – a [committee?] they shape, Co. exposure, etc… Primary: May 23.
