Containing six sketches: 1) chordal passage for 4 horns in C and E flat, resembling the chords used in a section near the end of the Leonore Overture no. 1 (mm. 298-306); 2) unidentified passage of four bars in C major, probably for keyboard; 3) unidentified passage in bass clef (no clef present), probably in D major, written in pencil; 4) unidentified fragment in G major, some writing in thirds, possibly for piano; 5) a passage of eight bars, written on the same line as the previous, prefaced with a time signature of 3/4 and concluding with a double bar and repeat sign; 6) the opening of the melodic line of the song “Nur wer die Sehnsucht kennt,” WoO 134, with the word “Sehnsucht” changed to “Liebe” in Beethoven’s hand, short instrumental flourish at the beginning.
